Unemployment Benefits - Employees

The reparation of the unemployment situation is made through:
- passive Measures, which are materialised through the granting of unemployment benefits.
- active Measures, which include:

• a one-off payment of the total amount of the unemployment benefits with a view to creating self-employment;
• the possibility of accumulating partial unemployment benefit with part-time work;
• total or partial suspension of unemployment benefits during the attendance of vocational training course with payment of compensation;
• the maintenance of the unemployment benefits during the occupational activity period promoted by the Employment Centres;
• other active political measures with the aim of improving the levels of employability and the insertion into the labour market of persons entitled to unemployment benefits, to be covered by specific legislation.

The unemployment protection includes also exceptional and temporary measures recognized in specific legislation.

PARTIAL UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT

These benefits aim at compensating the beneficiary for the lack of earnings or reduction of earnings determined by the acceptance of part-time work, as well as at promoting the creation of employment.

WHO IS ENTITLED?

Beneficiaries residing in the national territory

- workers covered by the general social security scheme for the employees;
- former invalidity pensioners who have been considered capable of work after a disability reassessment.

The beneficiaries, foreigner citizens must have valid residence permits or others that allow them to carry out an employed activity. The refugees and stateless persons must have a valid temporary protection permit.

Note: The beneficiaries that, at the date of unemployment, fulfil the qualifying conditions required for an old-age pension are not entitled to unemployment benefits.

- to submit a claim for the unemployment benefit
- to obtain information about beneficiaries’ claims
